SMELTING, MOULDING AND CHISEL PROCESSES

This big setting, that meets the end of
the corridor, was made later on in order to get access to the
enormous room where
mechanized work was carried out. This is why the armours in the ceiling have a
different design. This space was
formerly occupied by other areas of the factory (the file) and now holds the
starting point of some of the production stages. While being restored, the Uralita that was in
the ceilings was covered with wood and the stone masonry wall of the bottom
became visible again.
In the middle of this room we can loot at
different details from the factory, such as old wooden gears, bronze
sculptures... Especially astonishing is the sculpture of a couple of hunting
dogs, handmade from scratch by the young students of the Factory School
Workshop who used the graver technique.
From now on we can observe the brass
production process in different stages: smelting, mechanization… It all starts
in this room with the smelting, then moulding in sand and afterwards, the
chisel work. We will also be able to look at the different tools used on each
stage of the process: the crucibles, the table for handcraft sand moulding, the
different chisels, the old work benches, and so on.
