MACHINERY OF SAN JUAN DE ALCARAZ

On Saturday December 1, at 17:30 , a new conference around Riópar factories will take place at the Museum of the Royal Factories of San Juan de Alcaraz.

This time dedicated to the machinery of San Juan de Alcaraz, a set of industrial gems, undiscovered  in all its breadth. We are fortunate to join Ginés López del Castillo, metal worker since age 14, and foreman until his retirement; He know the ins and outs of each machine. Ginés still preserves his father payrolls, from whom he inherited craft and knowledge. He is accompanied by his son, also named Ginés, who teaches in a machinery  school... Together they will help us to better appreciate the uniqueness of this complex set, which shows a complete technical production process. The associated knowledge has been transmitted from father to son for generations.

We will walk through the  History, stories and uses of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries  machine-tools preserved in the Museum,  heart of the Historic Metal Factories of Riópar.

TIN FACTORY OF EL SALOBRE

On Saturday 13 October , at 18 pm.there will be a new thematic conference of the current series of lectures around Riópar Factories history, hosted by the Friends of the Royal Factories of Riópar. This time the meeting will be devoted to the brief history of the Tin factory of El Salobre (1786-1798), conceived originally as a secondary dependence of Riopar Metal Factories.

We are joined on this occasion by the historian Aurelio Pretel Marín, well known for his work in the historical reconstruction  of Albacete province ( He is the most important historian of medieval Albacete), with several studies focusing on the Sierra de Alcaraz.
